Sweet baby Ellie slept like a dream for most of her session, however once she woke up there was no going back : ) I love the wide awake shots too, don’t you?
Ahhhh…Little Ben here was such a joy to work with. His mama brought this adorable monogrammed outfit, bow tie onsie and that beautiful blue blanket. It was a lot of fun working with these gorgeous props : )
I have fallen so far behind on blog posts, but I’m going to try to get back to it ; ) Adorable Mr Chandler came in for his newborn session and I just wanted to squeal with joy when I saw all that beautiful dark hair : )

I wanted to take a moment to share something that is EXTREMELY important to me, and when in to comes to choosing a newborn photographer I hope it is your top priority too. What I want to talk to you about is newborn safety. This is a topic that can get overlooked in the excitement of all the cute images and awesome ideas out there. I want to be very clear…In my studio there is no photo or pose that will ever come before a baby’s safety and comfort. I take the safety & security of my little clients very seriously, and I will go to great lengths to ensure that a baby is comfortable and safe in each and every pose. With that said I thought I would share a few images SOOC (Straight out of camera) that show how some of these fun poses are archived without ever putting baby at risk. I mean this is a photography blog after all…there needs to be photos : )
Pose #1 Froggy – This is by far my most requested pose. The way if focuses on those cute little cheeks and adorable baby lips would melt any mother’s heart. This image is created by putting 2 images together in Photoshop. Mom or Dad’s hands never leave baby keeping him secure and comfortable the entire time….
Pose #2 Cocoon – This adorable image is also created by putting 2 images together in Photoshop. Most babies are very calm and comfortable in this pose, and it can even be done with an awake baby that is calm. Want to know my secret trick? That’s not just a wrap…That is 3 very long wraps, so he is extra cozy and extremely supported the whole time. Typically by the time I start the 3rd wrap baby is dozing off into a deep sleep. Again Mom or Dad’s hands never leave baby….
So there you have it just a few of the many techniques I use to ensure my clients are comfortable, happy, and and safe while visiting my studio. Safety should always, always, ALWAYS be the first thought for every image no matter what.
